Complaint to dry cleaners about garment damage

If you have taken an item to a dry cleaner (e.g. a pair of trousers) and during the cleaning process, they have caused damage to the item, you are entitled to claim compensation for this damage. Under the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 (and similar provisions in Scotland), the supplier should have carried out the service "with reasonable care and skill", and being in breach of this, you are entitled to hold the firm liable for the damage caused. You should enclose a photocopy of the company's receipt with this letter in order to support your request.
